Women's Track & Field register 10 victories in UMaine Open Invitational

Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine women's track & field team captured 10 victories in Saturday's UMaine Open Invitational, held at the New Balance Field House.
Ashley Martinez won the high jump with a mark of 1.66m. Her mark was a personal record for Martinez and also the 10th best time in Maine indoor history, besting her previous top-10 mark.
Jessica Kroushl continued her impressive streak in the sprints, taking first in the 60m at 8.23. Kroushl was followed in the event by Rori Coomey who took third at 8.39. Coomey also added a third place finish in the long jump at 4.97m.
Kelcie Horst won the 200m at 27.10 while Anna Folley took the top mark in the 500m with a time of 1:24.74. Kayla Raymond placed first in the 800m, crossing the line at 2:29.78 while Emma White took the bronze in the e vent at 2:33.24.
The Black Bears swept the mile event with Alexa Brennan taking the top mark with a winning time of 5:23.60. Marlee Yoder was the runner-up in the event at 5:23.81 followed by Jaymie Sidaway in the third at 5:41.52.
Rachel Hodge was the runner-up in the 3000m distance event, crossing the line at 11:30.27.
Maine took two of the top three slots in the 60m hurdle with Darcy Cochran leading the way as the runner-up in the event with a time of 9.29. Katherine Cowan took third in the event at 9.26. Cowan also added a runner-up spot in the high jump, clearing 1.56m. Cochran's time of 9.13 in the prelim of the event moved her into 10th on Maine's all-time top-10 list.
The Black Bears placed first and second in the pole vault with Yasmen Farag leading the way with a winning mark of 3.65m. Farag was followed by Oliviah Damboise who placed second in the pole vault at 2.95m.
Erika Lawson was Maine's top finisher in the triple jump, taking third at 10.69m.
The Black Bears swept the pedestal in the shot put with Rebekah Hunnewell-Dunphe's winning mark of 12.00m setting the tone. Shanna Scribner was the runner-up at 11.98m while Claudia Damboise took third at 11.95m.
Maine also took the top three places in the weight throw with Mackenzie Wilson winning the event at 16.97m. Erica Magnuson took the silver at 16.31m while Paige Boudreau came in third at 14.14m.
Maine finished first and second in the 4x200 relay with the team of Cochran, Cowan, Kroushl, and Caitlin Sardelis won the event at 1:49.35. Coomey, Chenille Eccleston, Kelcie Horst, and Erika Lawson placed second in the 4x200 with a final time of 1:51.39.
