HARTFORD, Conn. -- The University of Maine men's ice hockey team was defeated in overtime by the #8 University of Connecticut Huskies, 3-2, on Friday evening in the XL Center.

First Goal (1-0 Maine): After Nolan Renwick had a point blank shot saved by the Huskies' goaltender,
Jakub Sirota gave Maine a 1-0 lead. Renwick's rebound found its way to the blue line, where Sirota roamed. The senior captain fired a shot with multiple Black Bears in front of the UConn net. The puck avoided traffic and finished its flight in the back of the net. Maine held a 1-0 lead at the end of the first period.

Second Goal (1-1): Harrison Rees ripped a shot that was saved by
Victor Ostman. Chase Bradley, left unmarked in open space, redirected the rebound into the Maine net. 00:33 into the second period, #8 UConn tied the Hockey East contest.

Third Goal (2-1 #8 UConn): Unable to clear the puck in the midst of a long shift, the Black Bears surrendered the second Huskie goal of the second period. Tabor Heaslip took advantage of five tired skaters and scored the go ahead goal. The lead would not stand for long.

Fourth Goal (2-2): Michael Mancinelli won a face-off in UConn's zone. Brandon Chabrier collected the face-off win and left the puck for Justin Michaelian. The graduate student's wrister beat the Huskie netminder. Michaelian's first goal in Orono and Chabrier and Mancinelli's first assists for the Black Bears tied the Friday night contest. At the end of two periods in Hartford, the game stood 2-2.

Fifth Goal (3-2 #8 UConn): In the overtime period, Ty Amonte scored 00:44 into the extra frame. A Maine turnover led to the game winning goal for the Huskies.

Notes: Victor Ostman saved 32 shots in net for the Black Bears, while Logan Terness recorded 21 saves between the pipes for #8 UConn.

Maine went 0 for 2 on the power play, as the Huskies were 0-2 on its player advantages.
Justin Michaelian recorded his first career goal of the University of Maine. Brandon Chabrier and Michael Mancinelli both recorded their first career assists for the Black Bears.
