PREVIEW: Black Bears conclude west coast trip Monday at Gonzaga

Orono, Maine -- Maine concludes its west coast trip with its first ever meeting with Gonzaga on Monday evening live on the West Coast Conference (WCC) Network at 9 p.m. ET. The game can also be heard locally on 92.9 The Ticket and nationwide at GoBlackBears.com.

LAST TIME OUT:
Moraga, Calif. -- Sera Hodgson led Black Bears in double-digits with a career-high 22 points as Maine outscored Niagara 22-12 in the fourth quarter to seal a 73-57 win on the final day of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic.

Hodgson, who hit five of eight from three point range, was joined in double figures by Caroline Bornemann (12 pts) and Adrianna Smith (11), who each registered double-doubles in the victory with 10 and 11 rebounds, respectively. Olivia Rockwood added four triples and 14 points while Paula Gallego chipped in 10 points and a career-high six assists.

Maine finished 24-of-45 from the floor (53.3) and 12-of-27 from beyond the arc while dominating the boards with a 39-28 rebounding margin.

Maine put the game out of reach late, closing the game with a 12-2 run to earn the victory.

A LOOK AT THE BLACK BEARS:
The Black Bears have won two of their last three after most recently coming off a 73-57 victory over Niagara in the conclusion of the Saint Mary's Thanksgiving Classic. Olivia Rockwood leads Maine in scoring, checking in 20th among America East leaders at 9.7 points per game. Rockwood leads the America East with 2.7 triples per game and is shooting 37.2 percent from downtown. Sera Hodgson, fresh off a 22 points effort, leads the conference and ranks seventh in the nation wiht a 56.5 percent mark from three point range. Caroline Bornemann, fresh off her second career double-double, has tallied double-digits in each of her last two games and enters play at 9.5 points per game. Bornemann ranks third in the America East at 8.0 rebounds per game. Adrianna Smith ranks in the top five among America East leaders in both rebounding (7.7) and assists with a team-high 3.3 dimes per game. Maine ranks fourth in the America East in scoring defense, allowing 62.0 points per game. Maine checks in atop the conference in several three-point categories including attempts (141), three-point defense (21.3), and three pointers per game (8.0) while ranking third in the league at 34.0 percent from three point land. The Black Bears will be without leading scorer Anne Simon who an undetermined amount of time after the senior guard suffered a lower leg injury in Maine's game against Yale.

A LOOK AT GONZAGA:
The Bulldogs, who are received votes in the latest AP Top-25 poll, are 5-1 on the year with two wins over ranked opponents (#6 Louisville and #23 Tennessee). Gonzaga leads the WCC and ranks eighth in the nation with a 81.8 percent mark from the free throw stripe. The Bulldogs lead the WCC in scoring (75.8) with a league leading 39.5 percent mark from beyond the arc. Yvonne Ejim leads the WCC in scoring at 18.0 points per game with a 53.6 mark from the floor and a team-leading 8.2 rebounds. Kaylynne Truong is Gonzaga's leader in assists with 4.8 per game and ranks third on the team at 12.3 points. Brynna Maxwell leads the WCC in three-point shooting (57.1) while adding 13.0 points per game. Eliza Hollingsworth rounds out Gonzaga's four double-digit scorers at 10.5 points.

SERIES WITH GONZAGA:
Maine and Gonzaga meet for the first time in history. Maine is 2-0 against the WCC with wins over San Francisco (66-55) on Dec. 29, 1994 and a win over Santa Clara (73-69) on Dec. 27, 1995.
