Amherst, Mass. -- Olivia Rockwood poured in a team-high 15 points in Maine's 67-54 loss at UMass on Monday evening.

Rockwood, who has now registered double-figure scoring efforts in each of Maine's first two games, knocked down five triples en route to her team-high performance. Adrianna Smith posted a career-high 10 points and matched her career-high with seven rebounds while Jaycie Christopher and Anne Simon each tallied eight points.

The difference in the game came in the second quarter where Maine was outscored 24-0 in the period after shooting 0-for-12 over the 10 minutes stretch. The lapse in offense led to Maine trailing, 39-12 at the break.

Despite the setback, Maine kept charge as the Black Bears went on to outscore UMass in the second half.

UMass took its largest lead of the game, 46-12, early in the third. Maine answered the call by staging a 9-0 run ending on back-to-back triples from Rockwood and Christopher, to cut the deficit to 25.

There was no quite in the Black Bears who closed the game on a 12-0 run, holding UMass scoreless over the game's final 3:02.

Trailing by 25 with just over three minutes remaining in regulation, Maine began its late charge with another triple from Rockwood. Buckets off turnovers from Paula Gallego and Smith, with a pair of free throws from Smith, kept the pressure on. Sera Hodgson's three ended the 12-0 Maine run but the clock ran out as the Black Bears fell to UMass, 67-54.
