Maine is comes into the matchup against the Catamounts after having suffered their first loss since Sept. 8 on Tuesday night against Boston University, 5-2.
Chloe Walton and
Poppy Lambert both scored in the contest for Maine.
The Black Bears have had one of the best offenses in the Nation heading into their matchup against the Catamounts, as they have scored the sixth most goals per game in the country (3.47). Leading the offense has been Junior back,
Poppy Lambert, whose 17 goals are top in the America East and rank her in the top-5 nationally. Assisting on a lot of those scores has been Senior midfielder,
Madisyn Hartley. Hartley's 1.00 assists per game have her ranked first in nation in that category.
Mia Borley has been one of the best goalkeepers in America East this season as her .779 save% ranks first in the conference, while she is tied for first in shutouts (3) and her goals against average ranks fifth (1.60).
ABOUT THE CATAMOUNTS
Vermont is coming off of a 4-0 win over Stonehill back on Sunday, Oct. 16. Maddie Moran led the way with a pair of goals, with Kate Hall and Olivia Nolan scoring the other pair. Sierra Espeland picked up her third shutout of the season in the win.
The Catamounts are looking to stay in second place in the America East playoff standings as they current are in a three-way tie for that position at a 4-2 conference record.
Sophia Drees leads the Catamounts in points on the season with 19, five coming via goals and nine via assists. Maddie Moran (6G, 3A) and Kate Hall (5G, 3A) round out the top three scorers for Vermont.
In net, Sierra Espeland has been great for Vermont, as her 1.291 goals against average and her .756 save% both rank second in America East. She is also tied for the conference lead in shutouts with three.
