Orono, Maine - The Hockey East association announced on Monday afternoon that University of Maine Goaltender, Brooklyn Oakes, was named the Conferences Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week for her performance against the University of New Hampshire.

Oakes, a first year student from Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada, got her first collegiate start in goal on Saturday, Oct. 8 against the University of New Hampshire. She tallied 23 saves and earned the shutout victory over New Hampshire, 4-0.

Oakes and the rest of the Black Bears will play host to Long Island University on Friday, Oct. 14 and Saturday, Oct. 15.
