Orono, Maine -- The University of Maine baseball team will open postseason play on Thursday at 11 a.m. when it takes on tournament host and No. 1 seed Stony Brook at Joe Nathan Field live on ESPN+.
Thursday's game, the first meeting of the season between Maine and Stony Brook, will be broadcast live on the ESPN+ platform and can be heard locally on the airwaves at 96.1 WGUY-FM and worldwide at GoBlackBears.com. Following Thursday's opening day, two games are scheduled for Friday, May 28 and Saturday, May 29, the latter of which features the championship round. All games will be streamed on ESPN+.

A LOOK AT MAINE:
The Black Bears enter the tournament riding a two-game win streak as they clinched the fourth and final seed on the final day of the regular season by taking two from UAlbany while getting some much needed help with a Hartford doubleheader sweep of UMass Lowell. Maine enters tournament play with the league's second-best offense with a team .270 mark at the plate through 41 games. Leading the way for the offense is America East first team outfielder
Sean Lawlor. Lawlor, who ranks third in the league wit ha .358 batting average, ranks among the top 10 in the league in on-base percentage (.439), RBI (36), hits (53) and home runs with seven. Lawlor carries a 16-game hit streak into postseason play.
Scout Knotts and Ryan Turenne are each flirting with the .300 plateau as both enter the America East tournament hitting .297 and nine total home runs between the pair. Nick Sinacola, the unanimously selected America East Pitcher of the Year and first team selection, has turned in one of the most impressive efforts on the mound in Maine and America East history. In 11 starts, Sinacola fanned 128 opposing hitters to set both the Maine and America East record for most strikeouts in a single season. The righty leads the America East with a 2.21 ERA to go along with his league-best 1.04 WHIP and eight wins while ranking second in the nation in both strikeouts and strikeouts per nine (15.93). Joining on Sinacola in the rotation is freshman America East All-Rookie selection Noah Lewis (4-5, 4.42 ERA, 43 strikeouts, fellow freshman and reigning America East Rookie of the Week Tyler Nielsen (2-2, 3.96 ERA, 22 strikeouts, and veteran Alex McKenney (4-5, 4.31 ERA, 39 strikeouts).
A LOOK AT STONY BROOK:
The No. 1 seeded Seawolves enter the postseason at 29-17 overall and a league-best 25-10 mark in America East play. The 25 wins set the America East record for most most-ever wins in a single season in conference play. Stony Brook earned four selections to the America East first team and five more on the second team to lead all America East member institutions with nine all-conference accolades. Stony Brook led the America East in hitting at .273 during the regular season with four Seawolves (John LaRocca - .329, Shane Paradine .328, Chris Hamilton .322, and Evan Giordano .321) all ranking among the league's top-12 in batting average. On the hill, Sam Turcotte (2.53), Nick Degennaro (3.12), and Jared Milch (3.18) checked in among the league's top seven in earned run average.
