Albany, N.Y. -- The University of Maine women's soccer team fell in its 2021 America East opener at New Hampshire by a score of 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.

The Border Battle went to overtime as the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the opening 90:00.

First Goal (UNH 1-0): After receiving a through ball, Francesca Picicci chipped the ball over
Kira Kutzinski, who was far from her line. The forward collected the ball after getting past Kutzinski. With a wide open net, Picicci was able to find the back of the net and give the Wildcats a 1-0 victory 4:19 into the first overtime period.

UNH held a 16-4 advantage in total shots and a 7-2 edge in shots on net.

Birte Speck all recorded shots during the overtime chapter of the Border Battle.

Kutzinski turned away six shots for the second straight game for the Black Bears.
