Loryn Porter Named One of Three Finalist for the First Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year Award

ORONO, Maine -- The Women's Hockey Commissioners Association has announced the final three candidates who remain in contention for the first Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award. Senior goaltender Loryn Porter was selected as one of three, which were announced Thursday.
Porter finished the 2020-21 season with a 1.49 goal against average, .954 save percentage, and only 27 total goals allowed over 18 regular and postseason games, which were all played on the road. The save percentage was good enough for second in the nation, while her goals against average comes in at sixth best.
"Loryn's consistency and timely grade 'A' saves has given her team the opportunity to be in every game this season. Like many teams we never had a complete line up and rarely played back to back weekends. She never let outside situations affect her ability to perform her best, which is impressive considering this was the first season as a starter in her senior year," said head coach Richard Reichenbach. "We have a young team and taking in account the shots and scoring chances she faced, the numbers are impressive. She has had as much of a positive impact on our team's success as any player I have seen."
Voting was carried out by a panel of coaches, administrators and members of the media from across the country. The winner will be announced on Wednesday, March 17, the day before next week's NCAA semifinal games are played.
