ORONO - Head Coach Nick Derba officially released the 2022 Maine baseball schedule on Tuesday afternoon, with the 50-game season starting on February 18th at Louisiana State University. 

The Black Bears' home opener will be on March 25th, when they host Stony Brook at Mahaney Diamond. Prior to that, Maine will play five non-conference series and their first America East series before playing a home game.

FULL SCHEDULE

Maine will play a total of 18 games at Mahaney Diamond in 2022 and 32 games on the road at either opposing stadiums or at neutral sites. 

It all starts with national-powerhouse Louisiana State, whom the Black Bears haven't faced off against since 1995. Maine has faced LSU seven times in program history, including a matchup in the 1986 College World Series. The Bears have managed just one win over LSU, an Opening Day 12-5 win in 1992 from Coach John Winkin's squad. 

Other significant non-conference dates include matchups with Penn State, North Dakota State, and a pair of games with former Head Coach Steve Trimper's squad at Stetson. Maine will also take on George Washington for the first time and will compete with Boston College towards the end of the season.

Maine's 30-game America East schedule starts and ends on the road, first in Binghamton on March 18th and concluding in Hartford. The aforementioned home-opener against Stony Brook will take place on March 25th, with the home regular-season finale coming on May 15th.
