Taylor Leech Named Women's Ice Hockey Defender of the Week

WAKEFIELD, MA. - The Hockey East Association announced on Monday that University of Maine Defender and Captain, Taylor Leech, was named the Hockey East Defender of the Week for her performances against LIU.

Leech, a graduate student out of Bowdoinham, Maine, had a weekend where she found herself scoring in both game 1 and game 2 against the LIU Sharks. Her game 1 goal went down as the game-winning goal in the 4-2 victory for the Black Bears. Her game two goal was scored on the power play during the first period of the 3-2 victory.

For Leech, it is her first weekly award of the 2021-22 season. Her two scores were her first two points of the young season.

Leech and the rest of the Black Bears find themselves playing host to a pair of Hockey East rivals for their next set of games. UMaine will host UConn on Friday, Oct. 15 and then Northeastern on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Saturday game is the homecoming game.
