Mitchell Fossier Inks Deal with the Rockford IceHogs

Orono, Maine – Mitchell Fossier, a senior captain from Alpharetta, Georgia, signed a one-year American Hockey League contract with the Rockford IceHogs, AGL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League, for the 2020-21 season.

"Mitch has worked relentlessly throughout his time here to improve his game and has earned his pro hockey opportunity," head coach Red Gendron said. "When, like Mitch, you constantly seek improvement and are doing all of the little things to make it so, the prospect of playing in the NHL becomes very real."

Fossier earned a 3.898 grade point while majoring in New Media with a Music minor. He led the Black Bears in points during his junior and senior season. Fossier, who became the 56th player in UMaine's storied history to eclipse the 100-point plateau for his career, earned Hockey East All-Conference Second Team accolades in 2019-20.

During his four-year collegiate career, Fossier totaled 128 points (38 goals, 90 assists) and was a Hobey Baker Award nominee.
