Forward selected No. 12 overall by the Pride
ORONO, Maine -- University of Maine women's ice hockey forward Tereza Vanišová was selected by the Boston Pride with the No. 12 pick in the second round of the 2020 National Women's Hockey League draft on Tuesday evening.
"Congratulations to Tereza Vanišová for being selected by Boston," UMaine women's ice hockey head coach Richard Reichenbach said. "Fans can expect a player who loves to have the puck and makes plays like she does. Tereza has the ability to control play while she is on the ice. She is always thinking offense and is a fierce competitor. Tereza is one of the best athletes I have ever seen. She is incredibly strong and loves the challenge of playing against the best in the biggest games."
Vanišová, the Hockey East Co-Rookie of the Year in 2017 and second-team all Hockey East selection in 2018, ended her career with the Black Bears as UMaine's all-time leader in assists (66) and total points (129) while ranking second on UMaine's all-time goal scoring list with 63 career tallies.
