ORONO, Maine - It was announced on Friday, March 27, that Freshman Forward,
Ida Kuoppala of the UMaine Women's Ice Hockey Team was named to the All-USCHO Rookie Team for her performance during the 2019-20 season.
Kuoppala, a native of Pedersore, Finland, ranked first on the team in goals with 19 and in total points with 33, while ranking fourth on the team in assists with 14. Kuoppala concluded her first season at UMaine scoring the fourth most points by a rookie in program history.
Kuoppala was named the Hockey East Rookie of the Week on three separate occasions (1/20, 2/3, 3/2). She also earned the Hockey East Rookie of the Month for January and February.
Kuoppala helped pace the Black Bears to their second semifinal appearance in program history, scoring two goals and adding an assist in the quarterfinal sweep of Boston University. Her most notable goal was her overtime game-winner in game one, which came at 95:12 into the game.
