WAKEFIELD, Mass. - The Women's Hockey East Conference announced on Monday that University of Maine forward
Ida Kuoppala was named the Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week for her performance against UNH.
Kuoppala, a native of Pedersore, Finland, has been on a scoring streak of late, which she carried into the Border Battle weekend against the Wildcats of New Hampshire. She scored a pair of goals in Friday's 5-1 victory, while also adding a pair of assists in the contest. She continued her scoring streak on Saturday when she scored one of the two goals in the 2-2 tie. Her current goal scoring streak stands at five-straight games.
This marks her second Rookie of the Week honor of her career, the other coming two weeks prior against Merrimack.
Kuoppala and the rest of the Black Bears will look to continue building momentum towards the playoffs after picking up three conference points over the weekend. The team will be making the travel down to Providence, RI to take of the Friars on Friday, February 7 and Saturday, February 8. Those games will begin at 6:00 P.M. and 3:00 P.M. respectively.
