Football Adds Transfer Jordan Rowell

Rowell joining the Black Bears after two seasons at Northern Illinois

Orono, Maine -- Head coach Nick Charlton has announced the addition of transfer running back Jordan Rowell. Rowell, who transfers to the University of Maine after spending two seasons at Northern Illinois, will become immediately eligible to compete for the Black Bears.

Rowell, a 6-1, 210 pound sophomore running back from Elmhurst, Ill., spent two seasons at Northern Illinois. While with the Huskies, he appeared in one game during the 2018 season after a redshirt year in 2017.

Prior to his time at Northern Illinois, Rowell earned IHSFCA 3A All-State honors and was named Metro Suburban Blue Offensive Player of the Year for Immaculate Conception. The Daily DuPage Country 2016 All-Area football captain, Rowell helped lead Immaculate Conception to the Class 3A State title and a perfect 14-0 season. During the championship game, Rowell rushed for a Class 3A title-game record 272-yards. Rowell completed his senior season at Immaculate Conception ranked eighth in Illinois state history with 6,032 career rushing yards. His 25 touchdowns during his high school career placed him 13th all-time in Illinois.

Rowell joins a Maine offense which, in 2018, produced its highest points per game average (26.5) since 2013.
