Track and Field Earns Top Finishes at Auburn Invitational

AUBURN, Alabama—A select group of Black Bears participated in the 2019 Auburn Tiger Track Classic in Alabama to open the outdoor track and field season.
Cassidy Hill finished in 27 for the 100 meter dash at 12.28 before coming in 25 in 200 meter dash at 24.79.
Magnuson finished behind Hill in the 200 meter dash at 24.97 to take the 26 finish in the event. She went on to finish 12 finish in the 400 meter dash at 55.03, highest finish for an east coast participant in the event.
Ariel Clachar took a sixth place finish in the long jump at 5.46 meters for women's best finish in any event at the invitational. She also competed in the 100 meter dash, finishing at 42 at 12.47 final.
Three participating on the men's side of the events for Maine all earned commanding finishes in their respective events. James Olivier finished fifth in the 800 meter run at 1:50.16.
Elijah White with a 7.07 meter long jump for eleventh before taking a commanding fourth place finish in the triple jump.
Kelby Mace finished the events with a 63.85 meter finish in the javelin throw.
The Black Bears compete again this weekend at the Northeast Combined Events Challenge in New Haven Connecticut, running Thursday through Saturday. Select runners will head to the Ocean State Invitational in Providence, Rhode Island on Friday and Saturday.
