ORONO, Maine-- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team has named
Jillian Flynn the captain for the 2019-20 season.
Â
Flynn, a rising senior, has only played a total of 74 minutes in net in her three seasons so far at Maine. Her presence for the team has gone beyond her play in goal, being a vocal leader on the bench.
Â
Flynn, a native of Presque Isle, is the second goaltender to be named a Black Bears captain. Amanda Cronin, a fellow Maine native, was a captain for her senior season in 2001-02.
Â
Prior to her arrival at Maine, Flynn was captain of the Presque Isle High School soccer and softball teams, as well as being an alternate captain for the Presque Isle High School boys' hockey team.
Â
Returning with Flynn include both starting goaltenders, redshirt senior
Carly Jackson and rising junior
Loryn Porter. Offensively, the Black Bears return all three leading goal scorers in
Celine Tedenby (12-14--26), Tereza Vanišová (17-7--24) and Vendula PÅ™ibylová (7-11--18).
