Orono, Maine — In response to fan feedback, and as part of ongoing efforts to improve the overall experience for those attending men's ice hockey games, the majority of Black Bear Nation will pay less for single-game tickets and season memberships for the 2019–20 season, according to University of Maine Athletics.

Season memberships for the 2019–20 season will start as low as $215 — decreasing an average of $75; single-game tickets will start at $16 — an average savings of $8.

"This is an effort to provide greater access to Black Bear hockey for all fans," Director of Athletics Ken Ralph says. "We hope this will allow current fans to upgrade their seats and will help new fans find a price-point that fits their budget.

"It's clear a $50 single-game ticket is unreasonable in this market," Ralph says, "and we do not want price to be a limiting factor in enjoying Division I hockey. We all want to get back to filling the Alfond with passionate, knowledgeable and enthusiastic Black Bear fans."

UMaine Athletics is focused on providing the greatest atmosphere in college hockey and is committed to providing an unforgettable, family-friendly experience to all Black Bear fans in Alfond Arena supporting "Maine's Team," he added.

"The atmosphere on game night at Alfond Arena is the most exciting and electric in all of college hockey," says head coach Red Gendron. "Our players feed off of the energy of our fans, and the noise our fans create is deafening. Making the experience of hockey games at Alfond more affordable to more of our fans and their families will be a great boost to our program."

All public seating sections in Alfond Arena for season memberships and single-game tickets will be offered at various lower, restructured rates for the upcoming season. Among the highlights: a 27 percent savings for a gold season membership, a 14 percent savings for a silver season membership and a 30 percent savings for a single-game ticket in the gold section.

The goal is to reach 1,500 season members before puck drop this fall. Season memberships for the 2019-20 season are on sale now!
