ORONO, Maine – Led by a top-10 finish by reigning first team all-conference member
Aaron Willingham, the Maine Black Bears men's cross country team fell to Army West Point by a mark of 15-49 on Friday afternoon.
Willingham posted a time of 25:54.5 in the five-mile course for a seventh-place finish. The native of Mt. Blue, Maine averaged a 5:10.9 mile on the day.
Next to cross the finish line for the Black Bears was senior
Daniel Lesko, who tallied a time of 27:26.4 for a 17
th place finish.
Colin Tardiff grabbed 19
th place (27:39.7), while
Ethan Orach (28:17.4),
James Oliver (28:33.5) and
Cooper Nelson (30:23.2) also ran for UMaine.
Marshall Beatty of Army West Point earned the first-place win with a time of 25:31.9. Benjamin Petrella took second (25:42.4), while Roman Ollar's time of 25:44.6 was good enough for third place.
Maine returns to action on Sept. 8, to take part in Sanchez Southern Invitational, hosted by Dartmouth College.
