Black Bears set to travel to Greece May 11-20

ORONO, Maine – The University of Maine women's basketball team presents a special opportunity for Black Bear Nation! The Black Bears team will be traveling to Greece, May 11-20, and you're invited!

Included in the trip will be:
  • Guided tour of Athens
  • Full day excursion of Nafpilo, Mycenae and Epidaurus
  • Half day tour of Cape Sounio and Temple of Poseidon
  • Flight to Crete
  • Full day excursion – Rethymno, Knosso Palace, Heraklion
  • Three island cruise with the team – Saronic Islands (Hydra, Aegina, Poros)
  • Three Black Bear basketball games
  • Round-trip bus transportation from Orono to Montreal
We are excited to offer you this wonderful opportunity! We have limited space for fans at a very special rate. Cost for the trip is $8,600 for a couple or $4,500 for a single person. A portion ($500) of the cost of the trip from each traveling participant will go directly to support the UMaine women's basketball team. The $500 will go towards assisting with the costs of the trip for our players, helping to take UMaine basketball overseas and bring many of our players closer to home to play in front of their families and friends, as well as prepare for next season and bond with teammates.

*NOTE: If you're interested in going on the trip but do not have another travel partner to qualify for the 'couple' pricing, please give our women's basketball office a call as someone on our staff might be able to match you up with another single traveler.*

This special price includes airfare from Montréal to Greece and back to Montréal, all bus transportation, stay at four star hotels, daily breakfast buffets, five lunches or dinners in Athens, three lunches or dinners in Crete, all entrance fees to tour destinations and the benefit of a 24/7 English speaking tour leader.

All fans embarking to Greece will be treated to the three island daylong excursion and two meals with the team. All other excursions, and hotel stay, will take place separately from the team.

We will require a minimum of 22 fans to commit by Sept. 13 to ensure that the fan trip is filled. Half of the total cost is required by the Dec. 1 deadline as a non-refundable deposit. For more information, please contact the women's basketball office at 207.581.4067.

If you are interested in making a gift to support the women's basketball trip to Greece, please contact Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development Seth Woodcock at 207.318.5910.
