
Swimming and Diving Competitive Finishes at BC Meet

CHESTNUT HILL, Massachusetts— Maine women's swimming and diving fell in back to back meets against Boston College and Northeastern on Saturday. The Black Bears were outscored 222-78 against the Eagles and 224-76 against the Huskies. The men's squad fell to Boston College 219-67 in the same meet Saturday.
Top finishes for the meet include Juliana McDonald, taking second in the 50 yard freestyle at 24.08 and second in the 100 yard freestyle at 52.51. Beatrix Lavigeur finished 1000 yard free with a finals time of 11:19:02.
One Black Bear relay team came in the top five in the 200 yard medley relay, as the team of Megan McGillivray, Sabrina Nuttal, Rita Chen and Juliana McDonald captured fourth with a finals time of 1:49.64, as well as the 200 yard freestyle relay with the team of McDonald, Nuttall, Chen and Emma Blair finishing at 1:50.08.
Another Maine relay team took ninth in the 200 yard free relay at 1:53.33 in a team made of Caroline Strolic, Ines Khiyara, Abby Mulligan and Emma Blair. The third relay group of Lyndsie Russell, Emma Blackdeer, Kate Pontius and Lilli Wiseman finished at 1:58.50, and the fourth group of Tess McNamara, Hannah Deschenes, Anna McCurdy and Heather Sterchele finished with a 2:01.80 time.
Phil Ann Dixon garnered top score in the 1 meter diving with 257.20 points, while Ben Sturgis came in second in the 1 meter with 208.95 points.
The men took first and second in the 400 yard freestyle relay, with Coulter Morrill, Andy Sprague, Jacob Ketch and Chris Walker combined for a 3:18.29 finals time. Behind them, Nick Gould, Drew St. Jean, Kellen Doyle and Dalton Sousa finished with 3:26.41.
The leading men's 200 yard medley relay team came fifth, as Hayden Kasavicha, Cameron Kubik, Andy Sprauge and Jacob Ketch held a finals time of 1:40.83.
The next three teams to finish the event were all Black Bear quartets; relay team took sixth in at 1:41.27 in a team made of Nick Gould, Kazu Temple, Calvin Cleworth and Coulter Morrill. The third relay group of Chris Walker, Sean Driscoll, Kevin Kane and Drew St. Jean finished at 1:44.41, and the fourth group of Kellen Doyle, Nate St. Jean, Dylan Jorge and Eric Turner finished with a 1:46.85 time.
Connor Hughes finished third in the 1000 yard freestyle with a 10:21.65 time, with Dalton Sousa finishing behind him in fifth with a 10:42.05 time. Rooster Cardin, in his first NCAA race earned a sixth place finish in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing at 2:06.85.
The next meet for both the men and women is this Saturday, Oct. 27 at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
