ORONO, Maine -- Leading the Black Bears to a sweep of Boston University and lifting the team to third place in the Women's Hockey East conference, sophomore goaltender
Carly Jackson earned Women's Hockey East Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. She's also the first Black Bear to achieve this honor in the 2017-18 season.
Jackson stopped 46 shots in a pair of conference wins at Boston University, allowing just three goals in two games to help improve her goals against average this season to 1.81 and her save percentage to .926. The pair of wins were the first for Maine at the Terriers' home rink since the 2011-12 season.
Maine women's hockey will be facing off against Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass. for their first matchup this season on Saturday, January 13. Puck will drop at 2 p.m.
