Men’s Swimming Competes at Maine State Meet

BOWDOIN, Maine – The UMaine men's swimming team competed this past weekend at the Maine State Meet against Bates, Bowdoin, and Colby College. The Black Bears earned a total of 521 points throughout the two day invite.
Sophomore Kyle Adams won the 1-meter dive, with a score of 244.80, over 18 points greater than the second place finisher. Adams also finished as the runner-up in the 3-meter dive, finishing with a score of 212.55, just two points behind the first place finisher from the first place finisher from Colby.
Freshman Jack McNamara earned a first place finish in the 200-yd breaststroke, with a time of 2:12.00 in the finals for 20 points. He also earned Maine 15 points with a fourth place finish in the 50-yd breaststroke.
In event 34, Alec Penn earned a fourth place finish in the 100-yd freestyle with a time of 48.89. In the 200-yd butterfly, Andy Sprague earned Maine 14 points with a fourth place finish (2:04.92).
The relay team of Sprague, Coulter Morrill, Jacob Ketch, and Hayden Kasavicha recorded a time of 3:16.66 in the 400-yd freestyle relay for a third place finish.
The men's and women's teams are off from competition for rest of the year, and will resume action on right where they left off on Jan. 20th in a dual meet against Bowdoin.
