Women’s Swimming Competes at Harold Anderson Invitational

KINGSTON, R.I. – The Maine women's swimming and diving team traveled to the Ocean State this weekend, participating in the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by URI. Maine competed against Bryant, Providence, Assumption Holy Cross, along with invite hosts Rhode Island. The Black Bears took sixth place overall with 415 total points.
The women kicked off the meet with the 400-yd medley relay, where the Maine relay team of Megan McGillivray, Sabrina Nuttall, Victoria Kingston, and Juliana McDonald took fifth place with a time of 4:01.34.
The Black Bears won the 200-yd freestyle relay in event 9, as the team of Emily Borger, Emma Blair, Rita Chen, and Juliana McDonald finished with a time of 1:38.03.
In event 13, the 200-yd medley relay, the Black Bear squad of McGillivray, Nuttall, Kingston, and Blair placed fifth with a time of 1:49.77. A few events later, Kingston placed third in the 100-yd butterfly, reaching for the touchpad at 58.91.
The duo of Ines Khiyara and Caroline Strolic took sixth and seventh, respectively in the 200-yd breaststroke, registering times of 2:29.38 and 2:30.37.
The women rounded out the annual invitational with the 400-yd freestyle relay, with Blair, Borger, Shayla-Rose Kleisinger, and McDonald taking fifth place with a time of 3:39.01.
Both the women's and men's team are off until Dec. 1, when the Black Bears take on the Maine State Meet on Dec. 1. The meet will be hosted in Brunswick at Bowdoin College.
