ORONO, Maine -- A crucial player on the Black Bear squad, Michelle Weis earned Women's Hockey East Pro-Ambitions Rookie of the Week for the second time this season.
Weis displayed killer instincts on attack this past week potting four goals to help the Black Bears grab 2 wins and a tie at the Alfond Arena. In the match-up against UConn, the rookie netted the game winner 35 seconds into overtime to help the Black Bears edge the Huskies 4-3. She put away a pair of goals to help Maine take Providence into overtime on Friday night to a 2-2 tie. On Tuesday, the freshman put away the Black Bears first shorthanded goal of the season contributing to a 4-2 victory over Northeastern.
Maine will be facing Northeastern for a two-game series down in Boston on Saturday and Sunday with a consistent 2 p.m. puck drop.Â
