Swimming and Diving hosts Dartmouth for Senior Day Meet Saturday

ORONO, Maine – The UMaine Swimming and Diving teams will host Dartmouth this Saturday at noon, in the final home meet of the 2017-18 season. The Black Bears will honor nine seniors on Saturday for their contributions to the swimming and diving program and the University.
On the women's side the Black Bears will celebrate seniors Chloe Adams, Emily Borger, Victoria Kingston, Meghan O'Neill, Mariya Pominova, and Emma Pontius.
For the men, seniors Kevin Clyne, Connor Mayhew, and Alexander Penn will be recognized.
The women's swimming and diving team defeated URI 172-124 last week in the season opener at Stanley M. Wallace Pool. The women's team won of 10 of the 16 events on the day against the Rams. Shayla Rose Kleisingerand Emma Blair both won two individual events each to pace Maine over Rhode Island. Blair was also a part of the 200-yd freestyle relay that placed first. Both Blair and Kleisinger earned swimmers of the meet honors for their performances.
The men's team also competed last Saturday, as freshman Jack McNamara was named the swimmer of the meet after winning the 200-yd butterfly (2:02.09), the 200-yd individual medley (2:04.12), and placed second in the 100-yd butterfly with a time of 54.03.
Following the final home meet, the Black Bears will be idle until the weekend of November 17-18, when Maine travels to Kingston, R.I. to compete in The Harold Anderson Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
