Maine Baseball Suffers Loss to Bucknell, 6-3

WINTER HAVEN, Florida -- The University of Maine Baseball suffers loss to Buckenell as the Bison rally to a 6-3 victory.
With the loss Maine drops their fourth in a row and fall to 4-12 overall on the season while Bucknell improves their record to 6-5.
Justin Courtney received the start on the mound for the Black Bears and Dan Keller started for the Bison.
Both teams were held scoreless through three innings of play.
Bucknell struck first in the top of the fourth with a single from Alex O'Neill scoring Sam Clark to give the Bison a 1-0 lead.
Maine answered in the bottom half of the inning after a Kevin Stypulkowski single scored Brett Chappell tying the game at 1-1.
In the top of the sixth, Bucknell's Sam Clark singled with a bunt as Joe Ogren scored off of an errant throw to regain the lead 2-1.
The Black Bears tied the game once again, after Jeremy Pena hit a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Alex Cabrera now 2-2.
Maine took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the seventh after Brenden Geary hit a towering home run giving the Black Bears a 3-2 advantage. Max Kra came on in relief of Keller, who finished with six and one-third innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, no walks and five strikeouts.
The top of the eighth saw Bucknell record five hits, score four runs and Maine had one error. The Bison's Joe Ogren doubled to tie the game at 3-3. Justin Courtney was then replaced by Connor Johnson.
Courtney finished pitching seven innings-plus, allowing seven hits, two earned runs, no walks and three strikeouts.
Spencer Stokes also doubled to give the Bison a 4-3 advantage. Aaron Fritz then singled driving in one run to increase their lead, 5-3. Bucknell scored once more after a Tommy Pennington single to gain a 6-3 advantage.
Jake Marks then came on in relief and he pitche one and one third innings only allowing two hits.
Maine was unable to push across another run in their next two opportunities.
Courtney received the loss (1-2) and Max Kra (1-0) who came on in relief pitched two and two-third innings, allowing two hits, no runs, one walk and one strikeout.
The Black Bears return to action tomorrow as they face Lehigh at 3:00 p.m.
