
Men's Indoor Track and Field Places First Against Holy Cross, 96-73

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine Men's Indoor Track and Field team defeated Holy Cross today 96-73. Maine had 12 first place finishers on the day and the meet also saw four new facility records.
Assad Hicks set a new Field House record in the high jump with a mark of 2.08 meters / 6 feet 9.75 inches. With that jump, Hicks moved into fourth all-time on the Maine indoor track and field record list.
Jake Leithiser placed first and also set a new Field House record in the 400 meters with a time of 49.17 seconds which places him sixth all-time.
Jesse Orach was the third Black Bear to set a new Field House record and placed first in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:29.23. That time places Orach tenth all-time.
Placing first in the field events: Scott Murray placed first in the weight throw with a mark of 15.00 meters / 49 feet 2.50 inches. Dylan Smith finished first in the long jump with a distance of 6.16 meters / 20 feet 2.50 inches. Adam Lufkin placed first in the shot put with a mark of 14.08 meters / 46 feet 2.50 inches. In the triple jump, Steven Longfellow finished first with a distance of 12.74 meters / 41 feet 9.75 inches.
Running event first place finishers included: In the one mile run, Levi Frye placed first with a time of 4:17.76. Allahjustus Mathelier finished first in the 60 meter hurldes in 8.72 seconds. Darryl Wilkinson placed first in the 800 meters with a time of 2:00.60. Jacob Johns placed first in the 1000 meter run in 2:31.37 and the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Tyler Martin, Ryan Jamison, Jake Leithiser and Garrett Johnson placed first with a time of 3:25.18.
Other notable finishers on the day included:
Field Events: Travis Hutchins placed second in the weight throw (13.55m/44' 5.50"), Steven Longfellow placed second in the long jump (6.03m/19' 9.50"), Tyler Martin finished second in the high jump (1.99m/6' 6.25"), Scott Murray placed second in the shot put (13.48m/44' 2.75").
Running events: Michael Lucas finished second in the 500 meters (1:06.80), Jake Leithiser placed second in the 200 meters (23.03), Placing second in the 3000 meters was Aaron Willingham (8:44.24).
The Black Bears return to action next weekend at the Men's Valetine's Invitational and the UNH meet at the New Balance Field House.
