Women's Swimming and Diving Continues in the America East Championships

WORCESTER, Massachusetts - Although the Black Bears have yet to see a championship medal this weekend they continue to put forth a strong showing in the events, keeping their 4th place spot and attempting to move forward.
The first event of the day was 3 Mtr Diving, which saw Maine's Hayli Weitz take 5th place with a score of 193.35, adding 14 points to Maine's total.
In the next event, 400 Yard IM, the only Maine swimmer to participate in the finals round of the event was Shayla Rose Kleisinger who finished 16th with a final time of 4:39.33 adding 1 point to Maine's team total.
The following event was the 100 Yard Butterfly, with only 1 Black Bear qualifiying for the finals, Emma Pontious, finishing 6th place with a final time of 56.68 giving Maine 13 points.
Next came the 200 Yard Freestyle which saw 3 Black Bears in the finals, Chloe Adams finished fourth with a final time of 1:51.27 breaking her the school record that she herself set in 2014; Alison Brodt in 13th with 1:55.18, and Courtney Norman 1:55.77; they gave Maine a total of 21 points in the event.
The 12th event of the weekend was the 100 Yard Breaststroke which had 3 Maine swimmers in the finals; Emma Blackdeer finished 7th with a final time of 1:05.34, Cece McEachern finished 10th with a time of 1:07.17, and Sammy Mathieu finished 15th with a time of 1:08.27. Maine recieved 21 points from this event alltogether.
In the next event, the 100 Yard Backstroke, contained 4 Black Bears in the finals. Megan McGillivary finished 9th with a time of 57.39, breaking Emily Borger's 2015 record of 57.49; Emily Borger herself finished 11th with a time of 58.17, Amber Murray finished 14th with a time of 59.52, and Julianna McDoanld finished 16th with a time of 59.82, giving Maine a total of 19 points in the event.
The final event of the day was the 400 Yard Medley Relay, where Maine's relay team finished 4th with a time of 3:52.98 for 30 points. The team consisted of Megan McGillivary, Emma Blackdeer, Taylor Sharp, and Chloe Adams.
At the end of the third day Maine remains in 4th, with the full standings below.

2. UNH - 588.5 points
3. Vermont - 446 points
4. Maine - 301 points
5. Binghamton - 224.5 points
The final day of competition is Sunday, February 14th.
