Women's Swimming and Diving Kicks off America East Championship Weekend

WORCESTER, Massachusetts - The Maine Women's Swimming and Diving team began their championship weekend at the America East Championships in Worcester. The first day of events saw only 3 events, and the rest of the days will have morning prelims and evening finals.
In the first event, 1 Meter Diving, Maine had 2 divers place 5th and 7th place, Hayli Weitz in 5th with a finals score of 205.05, and Kayla Bousfield in 7th with 175.30.
In the second event, 800 yard freestyle relay, Maine's relay team finished 4th with a final time of 7:36.30. The team was comprised of Shayla Rose Kleisinger, Meghan McGillivary, Alison Brodt, and Chloe Adams.
In the third and final event of the evening, the 200 Yard Medley relay, Maine finished 4th again with a final time of 1:45.93, within .02 seconds of New Hampshire in 3rd. The team was made up of Tessa Lindsley, Emma Blackdeer, Taylor Sharp, and Julianna McDonald.
Maine ended the first day of events in 4th place overall with 86 total points. The championships continue on all weekend, February 12th, 13th, and 14th. To watch any of the preliminaries or finals events, tune in to AmericaEast.tv
