Amherst, Mass. -- The University of Maine women's cross country team finished sixth at the UMass Cross Country Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Black Bears finished with a score of 168.
Annabelle Wilson was the top Maine finisher, placing 42nd with a time of 19:27 in the 5k event. Hope Gardner was close behind Wilson in 45th with a time of 19:34. Shannon O'Neil was next to cross the line for the Black Bears in 52nd at 19:59.
UConn won the event with a score of 25 followed by Boston College (54), Vermont (64), UMass Amherst (113) and Amherst (132).
Maine returns to action when it hosts New Hampshire on Sept. 18 at 3 p.m.
