
Women's Soccer Shuts Out Rhode Island

Orono, Maine-- The University of Maine Women's Soccer Team earned its third straight regular season win against Rhode Island 2-0.
Adding a win today, Maine extended its winning streak to four games (including exhibition) and has not allowed a goal in four games.
Maine's first goal came from Charlene Achille, who scored her third goal of the season 26:52 into the game off an assist from Ashley Robinson. Achille was able to capitilize off a pass from Robinson and was able to shoot the ball high and wide over the goalkeeper.
The Black Bear's next goal came from freshman Anetra Byfield, who added her first career goal for Maine off an assist from teammate Vivien Beil. Byfield was able to launch the ball high into the net over the goalkeeper.
Maine's goalkeeper, Claudia Dube-Trempe has not allowed a goal all season. With Maine's offense being strong and in control during their first three games, Maine looks to extend their winning streak on September 3 at Providence. The game will start at 7pm.
Thursday's game against Providence is the first of a four-game road series for the Black Bears. They will return home to host LIU Brooklyn on September 19 at 12:00pm.
