Women's Ice Hockey Hosts Connecticut in Hockey East Quarterfinals

The University of Maine women's ice hockey team hosts Connecticut in the Hockey East quarterfinals this weekend. The teams will play on Friday night at 7 PM and Saturday at 4 PM. A game three, if necessary, will be played on Sunday at 4 PM. The series is a rematch of last weekend which saw the Huskies in town for a pair of games. Maine is 10-18-3 on the season and 9-11-1 in Hockey East play. UConn enters play this weekend with a mark of 9-17-8 overall, 5-11-5 in conference play.
SCOURING MAINE: Maine is led by Hailey Browne (Oakville, Ontario) who has seven goals and 10 assists for 17 points. Emilie Brigham (Anoka, Minnesota has seven goals and nine assists for 16 points. Jennifer More (Deloraine, Manitoba) has is adding a team-high nine goals and six assists for 15 points. Audra Richards (Maplewood, Minnesota) has eight goals and seven assists for 15 points as well. Rookie Brooke Stacey (Kahnawake, Quebec) leads all freshmen in scoring with four goals and seven assists for 11 points. Kelsey MacSorley (Stratford, Ontario) is adding six goals and four assists for 10 points. Brittney Huneke (Hastings, Minnesota) has nine assists, while Morgan Sakundiak (Calgary, Alberta) has two goals and six assists for eight points.
Meaghann Tracey (Lake Peekskill, New York) has played in 27 games in goal. She is 9-16-2 with a 2.45 goals against average and a .930 save percentage. Mariah Fujimagari (Markham, Ontario) has played in seven goals and is 1-2-1 with a 2.92 goals against average and a .893 save percentage.
MORE OF A CAPTAIN: Senior Jennifer More has served as captain for the Black Bears each of the past three seasons. She is the first three-year captain in Black Bear history. Brittney Huneke and Katy Massey (Waterville, Maine) each wear the "A" this season.
PLAYING AT HOME: The women's ice hockey team has earned a home Hockey East quarterfinal series for the first time in its history. Maine's nine conference wins are tied for third most in history.
COACHING THE BLACK BEARS: Richard Reichenbach (Hamilton '06) is in his first full season as head coach of the Black Bears after serving as a co-coach last year with his wife, Sara. He has a record of 17-38-8 in his second season. He is assisted by Sara Reichenbach (St. Lawrence '04) and Kendall Newell (St. Cloud State '08).
MAINE APPROACHING SAVE PERCENTAGE RECORD: Maine netminders have posted a .922 save percentage this season. The school record for save percentage in a season is .922 set in 2002–03.
MASSEY APPROACHING GAMES PLAYED RECORD: Katy Massey is just one game shy of tying the school record for career games played. Massey has played in 130 games, never missing one in her career. She will tie Myriam Croussette, Dawn Sullivan and Cheryl White who all played in 131 career games.
PERFECT IN THE CLASSROOM: Massey, a psychology major, is a three-time Hockey East Top Scholar-Athlete and has posted a perect grade point average the past three and a half years. She has also been named to the Hockey East Academic All-Star Team and the Hockey East All-Academic Team. She is a three-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winner.
TREACY AMONG ALL-TIME SAVES LEADERS, AGAIN: Meghann Treacy holds two of the top six spots on Maine's single season saves list. She has 863 saves this season, 32 shy of tying Lara Smart for third place on Maine's all-time single season saves list. She ranks third on Maine's all-times saves list with 1,863, trailing just Genevieve Turgeon (2,948) and Brittany Ott (2,122).
EXCELLING IN THE CLASSROOM: Maine has 21 student-athletes honored recently as Maine Scholar-Athletes. Victoria Hummel, Taylor Landry and Brooke Stacey were honored for having a 3.0 or higher in their first semester at Maine. Eve Boissonneault, Kristin Gilmore, Morgan Sakundiak, Meghann Treacy, Jessica Vallotton and Anna Wright received bronze medallions. Emilie Brigham, Hailey Browne, Abigail Cook, Mariah Fujimagari, Brooklyn Langlois, Jillian Langtry, Kelsey MacSorley and Audra Richards earned silver medallions as second time Scholar-Athletes. Jessica Hall, Brittney Huneke, Katelyn Massey and Jennifer More were presented gold medallions at three-time Maine Scholar-Athlete Award winners.
TREACY AMONG SAVE PERCENTAGE LEADERS: Treacy is also among the save percentage leaders for a single season. If the season were to end with her current numbers, she would set the school record.
STOPPING IT: Meghann Treacy was named the Hockey East Stop It Goaltender of the Month for both October and November.
