
Men's Indoor Track and Field Open 2015-2016 Season

Durham, N.H. -- The University of Maine Men's Indoor Track and Field team opened their 2015-2016 season by competing at the Multi-Event meet against the University of New Hampshire Friday night and concluded Saturday afternoon.
The Black Bears fall to the Wildcats 101-80. The Black Bears featured eight first place finishes.
Jake Leithiser finished first in the 500 meter run (1:06.13). In the one mile run, Levi Frye placed first (4:22.03). Jesse Orach had a five second lead over the second place finisher in the 3000 meter run (8:34.87). The Black Bears placed first in the 4x400 meter relay featuring: Tucker Corbett, Jake Leithiser, Ryan Jamison and Tyler Martin (3:30.62).
Maine's Devin Burgess finished first in the pole vault (4.55m/14' 11.00"). Assad Hicks placed first in the long jump (6.05m/19' 10.25") and tied for a first place finish in the high jump (2.00m/6' 6.75"). Steven Longfellow placed first in the triple jump (12.84m/40' 11.50").
Other top finishers on the day include: Tucker Corbett placed third in the 400 meter run (52.93). Joshua Horne finished third in the 3000 meter run (8:55.77). Allahjustus Mathelier (8.34) and Eljiah Yeboah (8.42) placed second and third respectively in the 55 meter hurdles.
Alecsander Wortman placed third in the pole vault (4.10m/13' 5.25"). Julian Hubbard (5.85m/19' 2.50") placed second, while Steven Longfellow (5.80m/19' 0.5") and Kelby Mace (5.80m/19' 0.5") tied for third in the long jump.
Jeremy Frantz placed third in the shot put (13.58m/44' 6.75"). Joseph Slattery finished third in the heptathlon with a total of 4,397 points.
The Black Bears have their next meet January 16, 2016 against Vermont and Dartmouth in Hanover, New Hampshire.
