Men's Basketball Stumbles at Boston College

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. -- The University of Maine men's basketball team dropped a 91-60 decision at Boston College on Sunday evening. The loss slips Maine back to 2-7 overall while the Eagles improve to 4-6.
Garet Beal led Maine's scoring, hitting a trio of 3-pointers for nine points. Aaron Calixte and Till Gloger each added eight points while Devine Eke finished with six points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Black Bears went 21-for-57 (36.8%) from the floor, hitting 5-of-16 3-pointers, and finished 13-for-20 from the free throw line.
Boston College built an early lead, taking a 16-3 advantage just 5:15 into the first half. Maine responded with a 5-0 run on free throws by Shaun Lawton and a 3-pointer by Kevin Little, cutting the lead to eight.
Maine, trailing 25-15, put together a 9-2 run, bringing it all the way back within three with 4:23 to play in the half.
Boston College closed the half with a 17-5 sprint to take a 44-29 lead into the half.
The Eagles were able to distance themselves in the second half, outscoring Maine 47-31 over the final 20 minutes, starting with an 11-0 run out of the break to extend their lead out to 55-29.
Maine countered with a 10-5 run of its own, capped on back-to-back 3-pointers by Beal, to chip the advantage down to 60-39.
Boston College added to its lead late as a 3-pointer by Steve Perpiglia with 1:07 remaining swelled the advantage to 91-55.
The Eagles went on to capture a 91-60 victory at Conte Forum.
Maine is back in action on Saturday, Dec. 19 when it travels to take on Fordham at 2 p.m.
