Little Matches Career-High with 25 Points in Loss at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. -- Kevin Little matched his career-high with 25 points but it would not be enough as the University of Maine men's basketball team dropped a 70-53 decision at Fordham on Saturday afternoon. The loss slips Maine back to 2-8 while Fordham picks up its ninth-straight win to improve to 9-1.
Little tied his career-high of 25 points on 9-of-15 shooting, going 4-for-7 from behind the arc, and added four rebounds and four steals. Devine Eke narrowly missed a double-double with nine points and nine boards to go along with pair of blocks. Maine finished 38% from the field (18-47), 25% from 3-point range and 12-16 from the free throw line.
Fordham won the rebound battle by a 43-30 margin and were led by Joseph Chartouny's 21 points and seven rebounds.
Maine built an early five-point edge with a 6-0 run on back-to-back 3-pointers from Lavar Harewood and Little.
Quick paced, back and forth action was featured early as the two team's exchanged eight lead changes over the opening 14-minutes. Fordham was able to distance itself as it closed the first half on an 18-6 run to take a 35-26 lead into the break.
Maine, which trailed by 17 eight-minutes into the second half, broke out a 6-2 run to cut the lead down to 13 with just over 11-minutes to play.
The Black Bears kept charging as another 3-pointer from Little followed a bucket from Lawton as Maine found itself back within 10 with 5:27 to play.
However, the Rams closed action on a 13-6 run to take the contest, 70-53.
The Black Bears stay on the road and will take on Holy Cross on Dec. 21st at 7 p.m.
