Women's Ice Hockey drops first game of BU series

Boston, MA - A close game ended in favor of the Terriers Saturday afternoon as Maine lost to Boston University for the second time this season by a final score of 5-3.
The game was knotted even several times through out the course of the afternoon; the scoring began with the Terriers pulling ahead 1-0 with a goal from Sarah Lefort, less than a minute into the game. The Black Bears answered back on the power play 14 minutes later off the stick of Freshman Alyson Mattaeu, assisted by Catherine Tufts and Cassidy Herman. The Terriers would retake the lead in the first on an unassisted goal by Victoria Bach, leading 2-1 after one period.
In the second the Black Bears briefly took the lead off of 2 consecutive goals, the first a power play goal by Catherine Tufts, assisted by team points leaders Audra Richards and Brooke Stacey, and the second an unassisted goal by Carolyn Megnes, putting Maine up 3-2.
The Black Bears would be blanked after that, though, giving up another goal to Sarah Lefort, this one on the power play, and another 2 to Maddie Elia, including the empty-netter to seal the game at 5-3.
Terriers net-minder Victoria Hansen stopped 30 of 33 shots on the afternoon in the win, while on the other side of the ice Meghann Treacy stopped 28 of 32 in the loss.
The Black Bears and the Terriers will face off again Sunday afternoon, Nov 15 at 3pm.
