
Swim & Dive Sweep Rhode Island

ORONO, Maine -- The University of Maine swim & dive team's swept Rhode Island in a season opening meet on Saturday afternoon. The women's team won 180-118 while the men defeated the Rams 161-99.
Both teams swept their respective 200-yard medley relays as the women touched the wall at 1:50.47 and the men won in 1:37.00. The women's 200-yard freestyle relay team took first place with a time of 1:39.37.
In the individual events, the Black Bears took first place in 18 of the 30 races.
Shayla Klesinger won a pair of distance events and the 200-yard IM. Klesinger placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:41.76, won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:11.47 and touched the wall first in the 200-yard IM at 2:13.28.
Connor Mayhew was the top finished on the men's side, placing first in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:59.89 and placed second in the 100-yard back at 56.58.
Nick Jensen won the men's 3-meter dive with a score of 226.70.
