Women's Ice Hockey Shutout at Boston College

Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- The University of Maine women's ice hockey team dropped a 4-0 decision at Boston College on Saturday afternoon. The loss slips Maine back to 1-4-0 overall, 1-2-0 in Women's Hockey East action, while the Eagles remain undefeated at 5-0-0, 1-0-0 in WHEA play.
Boston College jumped out to an early 2-0 lead with a pair of first period goals. Haley Skarupa found the back of the net for the Eagles, 5:00 into the first period. Just 49-seconds later, Meghan Grieves put Boston College on top 2-0 off assists from Kali Flanagan and Andie Anastos.
Skarupa added her second goal of the game, 12:04 into the second period, to extend the Eagles' lead to 3-0.
Boston College lit the lamp for a fourth and final time at the 15:46 mark of the second period when Alex Carpenter tallied her ninth goal of the season.
Neither team scored in the third period as the Eagles took the victory, 4-0.
Meghann Treacy received the game's first start as the Black Bear netminder made 48 saves in the tough loss.
Maine returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. when it continues WHEA play at Merrimack.
