Tobin's Two Goals Lead Soccer To Win Over UMBC

ORONO, Maine -- Sady Tobin (Paul Smiths, N.Y.) notched both Maine goals, including the game-winner with 16 minutes left in the game to lead the Maine soccer team to a 2-1 win over UMBC on Sunday. Maine is now 4-6-1 over and 1-3-0 in America East play while UMBC fell to 0-11-2 and 0-3-1 in league play.
Tobin got Maine on the board first, as she headed a Lisa Bijman (Brantford, Ontario) corner kick over the head of the UMBC goalie.
The Retrievers answered just 14 seconds later on a goal by Rachel McKee to tie the game going into halftime.
Tobin would give Maine the win with 16 minutes left when she hit a perfectly placed ball from about 35 yards out over the keeper into the far corner. The two goals were Tobin's first goals of the season.
Megan Price-Liebenzeder (Surrey, British Columbia) made four saves in net for Maine while Lauren Kadet made six for UMBC.
The Black Bears return to action on Oct. 13 at Hartford.
