University of Maine Sports Hall of Fame
Ray Jacques provided inspirational leadership in the early years of the University of Maine hockey program, twice topping the Black Bears in scoring during his four seasons and often making the vital defensive play. Overall, in 125 career games, he racked up 46 goals and 82 assists for 128 points. As a senior, he was nominated for the Walter Brown Award as “New England’s best American-born Division I college hockey player … awarded annually to the player who best combines the attributes of sportsmanship, skill and team spirit” by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. Jacques has remained a spirited backer of the UMaine hockey program since graduating and launching a successful business career.
