Tom Hanscom

Tom Hanscom transitioned to the Assistant Director of Marketing role after serving as the Director of Football Operations at UMaine since the fall of 2021. In his role, Tom oversees the game day fan experience of all sports at UMaine, but works more directly with Field Hockey, Men's and Women's Basketball, Women's Ice Hockey, and Baseball.
Graduating from UMaine in 2019 with a Bachelor's degree in Economics, Tom has been involved with Maine Athletics since his junior year in 2017 when he joined the football team as a student manager/filmer. After graduation in May 2019, he accepted the role as Video Coordinator with Maine Football, a role that was eliminated in 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic.
Following the pandemic, Tom served as the Pro Shop Manager at Penobscot Valley Country Club in Orono, managing all aspects of the pro shop and restaurant marketing and social media strategies. During his time at PVCC, Tom served as the head coach for the Orono High School golf team, leading the team to its first Maine State Championship in his first year in 2020. In his second season in 2021, a senior on the team won the Girls Individual State Championship.
Tom was hired in October of 2021 to be the Director of Football Operations. Head Coach Jordan Stevens retained Tom when he arrived on campus as the head coach of Maine Football that December and Tom worked under him until August 2023, when he took the position of Assistant Director of Athletics Marketing.
Tom is from Orrington, Maine and his parents and younger brother are all graduates of UMaine as well.
