Taylor Leech returns to her alma mater as an assistant coach for the University of Maine women’s ice hockey program after building experience at the collegiate and prep levels.
Most recently, Leech served as an assistant coach at Colby College, helping the Mules advance to the NESCAC Championship game. Prior to Colby, she served as the head coach of the girls’ varsity ice hockey program at Kents Hill School.
A former Black Bear, Leech played 133 games for Maine from 2017–22 and served as a two-time captain. She was also named the 2022 Hockey East Sportsmanship Award recipient, the only player in program history to receive this award. Following her collegiate career, Leech played professionally in Europe for HC Lugano in Switzerland and Leksands IF in Sweden, where she served as an assistant captain.
A native of Bowdoinham, Maine, Leech graduated from the University of Maine in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology with minor/concentrations in Pre-Med, Neuroscience, Psychology and Human Development.Â
