Drew Bowers joined the University of Maine in October of 2025 as associate director for sports performance.
Bowers joined the Black Bears with over 12 years of experience in the sports performance field at a variety of levels including the Virginia Military Institute, Lake Superior State University, Roanoke College, and Kenyon College.
Most recent before his time in Orono, Bowers served as the head strength and sports performance coach for Desert Edge High School while also working in hockey performance training at Foundation Sports Performance.
Bowers, who served a short stint as a strength and re-conditioning coach with the Arizona Coyotes, spent one season (2022-23) as the director of sports performance at Lake Superior State University. Prior to his time at Lake Superior State, he was the assistant director of sport performance for Olympic sports at the Virginia Military Institute (2021-22).
His longest stint prior to Maine came at Roanoke College where he served four seasons (2017-21) as the head strength and conditioning coach and assistant men's lacrosse coach.
Bowers' first collegiate job in sports performance came at Kenyon College where he was the head strength and conditioning coach and assistant men's lacrosse coach from 2014 through Sept. of 2017.
An adjunct professor of exercise science at Park University, Bowers also spent two years as elite hockey strength and conditioning coach at Twist Sport Conditioning Centre.
Bowers is USAW Level 1 certified and SCCC certified. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from Roanoke College before earning his Masters of Education in Positive Coaching / Sport Psychology from the University of Missouri.
