BOSTON — The #7 University of Maine hockey team fell to #2 Boston University, 4-1, on Friday night in the Hockey East Tournament semifinal at TD Garden.
Maine will now wait for its NCAA Tournament seeding during Sunday's selection show.
The Terriers took a 1-0 lead midway through the first period and then made it 2-0 with a power-play goal in the second period. Lynden Breen cut the deficit 6:48 into the third frame with a power-play tally but the Terriers responded with a power-play goal four minutes later to restore the two-goal lead. But then tacked on an empty-net goal in the final minute of play.
