Black Bears break nine school-records over the four day meet

Lexington, Va. -- The University of Maine men's swimming & diving program placed fifth at the America East Championships with 376.50 points.

The Black Bears broke a total of nine school records during the four day meet:

200-yard medley relay: 1:29.71 (Cam Watelet, Nick Partridge, Calvin Comeau, Max Ginsburg)
50-yard freestyle: 20.13 (Watelet)
500-yard freestyle: 4:34.48 (Kaden Kilger)
200-yard freestyle relay: 1:21.65 (Devers, Watelet, Julian Lapietra, Ginsburg)
100-yard breaststroke: 54.98 (Partridge)
400-yard medley relay: 3:20.04 (Watelet, Partridge, Comeau, Devers)
200-yard backstroke: 1:49.80 (Liam Hood)
100-yard freestyle: 44.93 (Fine Devers)
400-yard freestyle relay: 3:00.91 (Watelet, Devers, Lapietra, Kilger)

On the final day of competition, Kaden Kilger led the way for the Black Bears with a fifth place showing in the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 16:08.21.

Finn Devers added a sixth place showing in the 100-yard freestyle with a new school record time of 44.93.

Liam Hood placed seventh in the 200-yard backstroke with a final time of 1:50.02. Earlier in the day, Hood set a new school record in the event with a prelim time of 1:49.80.

Nick Partridge added a seventh place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, touching the wall at 2:03.80.

Maine's team of Watelet, Devers, Lapietra, and Kilger set a new school record mark with a time of 3:00.91 in the 400-yard freestyle relay, good for fourth place.
