Orono, Maine - The University of Maine men's ice hockey program announced its captains for the 2023-24 season on Thursday afternoon.
David Breazeale and
Lynden Breen have been named the captains of the Black Bears while
Ben Poisson and
Nolan Renwick have been named alternate captains.
Breazeale, a native of Grandville, Mich., previously served as an alternate captain for the Black Bears in the 2022-23 season. He tallied 13 points a season ago, scoring one goal and dishing out 12 assists.
Breen, a native of Grand Bay-Westfield, New Brunswick, also served as an alternate captain for the Black Bears in the 2022-23 season. He led the Black Bears in goals (21) and points (26) while ranking second in assists (15) last year.
Poisson, a native of Vancouver, British Columbia, is entering his second season serving as an alternate captain of the Black Bears. During the 2022-23 season, he led Maine in assists with 17, while ranking second in points (26) and he tied for second with the most goals (9) on the season.
Renwick, a native of Mileston, Saskatchewan, enters his sophomore season with the Black Bears and earns his first season wearing the alternate captain's patch. A season ago, he ranked third on the Black Bears in points with 20, he tied for second in goals with nine and he dished out 11 assists.
Maine is set to have an exhibition against New Hampshire on Saturday, Oct. 7 at Colby College before beginning the 2023-24 season against RPI on Oct. 12 and 13 in Alfond Arena. Click
