Bradly Nadeau selected in the first round, 30th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes

Nadeau is the first Black Bear to be selected in the first round since 1999

Orono, Maine -- University of Maine men's ice hockey incoming freshman forward Bradly Nadeau has been selected in the first round, 30th overall, by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 2023 National Hockey League Draft.

Nadeau is the first Black Bear to be selected in the first round since Barrett Heisten was selected 20th overall in the 1999 NHL Draft by the Buffalo Sabres.

A native of Saint-François-de-Madawaska, New Brunswick, Nadeau was named the BCHL's Most Valuable Player and earned the Brett Hull Trophy as the BCHL scoring leader with 45 goals and 68 assists for 113 points in 54 games. Nadeau guided the Penticton Vees to back-to-back BCHL championships and was named the 2023 playoff MVP.
