#13 Men's Hockey Hosts #1 Boston College This Weekend

The Black Bears will host the Eagles on Friday and Saturday at Alfond Arena.

ORONO, Maine – The #13 University of Maine men's hockey team will host #1 Boston College for two games this weekend at Alfond Arena.
 
Puck drop between the Black Bears and Eagles is set for 7 p.m. on both nights, with both conference tilts airing on ESPN+ with an international stream available via Hockey East/Stretch Internet. The games can also be listened to via 92.9 FM or online at GoBlackBears.com/MIHRadio.

 WHAT TO WATCH FOR
• The University of Maine will host Boston College for two games this weekend at Alfond Arena.
• Maine is coming off of a weekend sweep at Merrimack, earning 2-1 and 5-4 wins.
• The Eagles swept a home-and-home series with UMass Lowell, picking up 3-2 wins on both nights.
• Friday night marks the Hockey East home opener for the Black Bears.
• This marks the first time that Maine has hosted a #1 ranked team at Alfond Arena since Nov. 2, 2012 when it fell to a #1 Boston College team, 4-2.
 
A WIN ON FRIDAY WOULD...
• Bump the Black Bears to 6-1-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in Hockey East play ... it would be Maine's first 3-0-0 start in Hockey East play since the 2005-06 season.
• Move Maine to 57-71-10 all-time against Boston College and 5-1-1 under head coach Ben Barr.
 
ABOUT MAINE
• The Black Bears opened up Hockey East play this past weekend with a sweep at Merrimack.
• Lynden Breen and Bradly Nadeau led the way in Friday night's 2-1 win, with Nadeau recording the game-winning goal in the third.
• On Saturday, Brandon Chabrier scored 17 seconds into the game and Maine led 5-1 entering the third period before holding on for a 5-4 win ... Bradly Nadeau scored twice and added an assist while Breen had two helpers ... Sully Scholle scored his first career goal with the game-winning goal.
• Victor Östman sits at 5-1-0 with a 2.15 goals against average and .898 save percentage.
• The Black Bears have five players with at least five points each ... 17 different skaters have registered at least one point for Maine while the team has 11 different goal scorers.
• Maine opened the year at 3-0-0 for the first time since the 2016-17 season and at 5-1-0 have the program's best start since the 2006-07 season.
 
ABOUT BOSTON COLLEGE
• Boston College swept UMass Lowell with a pair of 3-2 wins to move to 7-1-0 overall and 2-0-0 in Hockey East play.
• The Eagles are riding a four-game winning streak … BC's lone loss of the season came on Oct. 21 at home to a #2 ranked Denver squad, 4-3.
• A pair of rookies lead BC in scoring in Will Smith (5-6-11) and Gabe Perreault (1-10-11) while Cutter Gauthier (8-2-10) has also hit double-digits in points.
• The Eagles are converting power plays at a 25 percent clip, the ninth-best mark in the nation.
• Head coach Greg Brown is in his second year behind the bench at BC … the Eagles were picked to finish second in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches' Poll.
 
SERIES HISTORY vs BOSTON COLLEGE
• Maine holds a record of 56-71-10 in the all-time series with Boston College ... the Black Bears are 33-25-4 at Alfond Arena against the Eagles.
• The Black Bears are riding a five-game unbeaten streak in the series and are 6-3-1 in the last 10 meetings.
• Maine swept last season's three-game series by picking up a 3-1 win at Conte Forum and 6-3 and 2-1 wins at Alfond Arena.
